"This One's For You Elly"

Where, oh where, did you ever get the idea that you and your siblings have loose connective tissue????

Either

a) I'm adopted!
or
b) I'm the exception that proves the rule!
or
c) You have no idea what you're talking about!

Choose!!

The number one thing I wish I could change about my body is to get just a wee bit of flexibility.  The reason I am so often on the edge of injury is because every last tendon and ligament in my body is short, tight and fragile.  It is also the biggest reason I am such a poor swimmer.  I have limited mobility in my shoulders, my back, my hips, and my ankles.  While I know that a small part of that is because of my running and a lack of accompanying stretching, this is not a new thing for me.  I could just barely touch my toes as a kid, and now I can't get within 8 inches of them.

So whatever it means, I gotta tell you that I'm still quite proud of my ability to put my socks on standing up.  Perhaps John is full of shit, but my pride was sincere. Whadda ya say John?

  1. I also have terrible flexibility - welcome to the club. I know you already know this, but yoga would help.

  2. I have shown you this, so I know you know, but I can keep my knees straight and feet flat on the floor and touch my head to the floor. Many of my joints......hips, knees, shoulders are so loose they often make popping sounds as if they are coming apart and snapping back in. I suppose that each extreme has some small advantages, but I often wish for a bit more stability. It is only from my older sisters that I learned of this familial connection, but my experience proves the rule. As for the socks, I too was being sincere, as I have had bouts of back pain where I needed help even while sitting.

  3. OMG, that must be it, you're ADOPTED! Wait a minute...why would they do that when they had 11 other great ones?? I guess i will need to resort to option 2, but I really like 1 better! Although it could be that you have some weird (read EXTRA weird) genetic trait as I know that at least one of our nieces has gone from one extreme to the other. Regardless, pretty sure it's true that our connective tissue sucks!
